AEW Career-Ending Injury Reportedly Legitimate

A recent announcement of a career-ending injury to an AEW star is reportedly believed to be legitimate and not just part of a storyline.

AEW announced that Trent Beretta left Chuck Taylor with a career-threatening injury during their Parking Lot Fight on the April 27 edition of AEW Rampage.

Addressing the brawl on the following week’s AEW Dynamite, Orange Cassidy said that Taylor “will never wrestle again.”

While the nature of the injuries had not been revealed at the time, it has since been announced that Taylor has a fractured ankle that will require surgery.

It was also stated that due to the nature of the fracture and the presence of necrosis, the injury is likely ‘career-ending’.

Dave Meltzer has provided further details on the legitimacy of the situation in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, stating:

In storyline they say it’s over but have also given wiggle room.

From what we are told, what was said on television was accurate and the belief right now is that Taylor won’t be able to wrestle again.

Taylor and Beretta debuted in AEW at Double or Nothing in 2019 with their break-up as a team taking place in April 2024.

Following the match that has seemingly ended Taylor’s career, Beretta stated that his former tag partner would need surgery.

He would also state that Taylor “hasn’t had his head in the game for a long time now” and that he “took him out of the game.”
