Dustin Rhodes AEW Character Change Update

Dustin Rhodes AEW Character Change Update AEW

An update has emerged over the possibility of a character change in AEW for the currently injured Dustin Rhodes.

Dustin Rhodes has been out of action since the end of July, losing the TNT Championship to Kyle Fletcher after a nineteen-day reign.

With his former ROH World Tag Team Champion partner, Sammy Guevara, now having parted ways with Marshall & Ross Von Erich, Rhodes appeared to be contemplating a change of character.

Guevara joined La Faccion Ingobernable at ROH Death Before Dishonor, turning heel in the process, something that Rhodes seemed to be considering in a tweet that reads:

“I kind of miss being a heel. Haven’t been in so long.”

With a fan asking if we could be seeing a ‘Heel Dustin’ when the AEW star returns to the ring, Rhodes would clarify in a reply that stated:

“I miss it but prb not lol.”

While he believes a heel run probably won’t happen, Dustin Rhodes did react to another user’s pitch for a “pissed off vet” character, noting:

“I like that.”

There’s plenty of time for a heel version of Dustin Rhodes in AEW, with the currently sidelined star having revealed he signed a six-year contract deal recently.

Having signed his first contract as a wrestler and trainer back in August 2019, the new contract will take him to at least 2030.

Along with being a former TNT and ROH World Tag Team Champion, Rhodes has also held the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship with Marshall & Ross Von Erich.
