AEW Name Set For First Match Since 10 Years Ago On Dynamite Next Week? AEW

UPDATE – When advertising next week’s Dynamite card, Perry/Lynn was labeled as a “face-to-face”, so it may not be an actual match.

Announced for next week’s edition of AEW Dynamite (August 2), an odd match featuring on AEW name who hasn’t featured in in-ring competition in over a decade.

The match was made after the former ‘Jungle Boy’ Jack Perry came out to the ring to have an interview segment with Tony Schiavone.

Perry wore a shirt that bragged about having beaten HOOK after a vignette played ahead of the entrance of HOOK looking forlorn at a subway station.

When Jack Perry got on the mic and disrespected the roots of the FTW title by insulting ECW, one very notable backstage name appeared to defend the honor of professional wrestling history.

Jerry Lynn appeared, came to the ring and told Jack Perry that without the generation of past wrestlers to pave the way, there wouldn’t be a space for Jack Perry in the ring today!

Challenging him to a match, Perry accepted but claimed he wasn’t dressed to compete so he deferred until next week for the bout.

According to Cagematch, Lynn’s last match was on March 23, 2013 at a show literally named ‘Jerry Lynn’s Retirement Show’.

Elsewhere on tonight’s AEW Dynamite, Orange Cassidy kicked off the night as is often customary, with an International Championship bout. You can click here to learn more about that.

Later tonight, Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli will team to take on the Lucha Bros and Best Friends in Dynamite’s main event.
