An AEW star has broken a long-running record held by Jade Cargill before her move to WWE in September 2023.
As the TBS Champion, Jade Cargill’s championship reign saw her as the title’s inaugural champion, holding it for 508 days.
The crown for the longest-ever AEW championship reign has now passed to Kazuchika Okada, thanks to his 509-day and counting run as AEW Continental Champion.
AEW All In Texas in July may have seen Okada become the inaugural AEW Unified Champion, but the company continues to recognize the lineage of both the titles, with Okada listed as the Unified, International and Continental champions on the official roster page.
Okada defeated Kenny Omega to claim the International Championship at the recent pay-per-view, and unified it with the Continental Championship to form the Unified Championship.
Okada is only the second star to hold the Continental Championship, defeating inaugural champion Eddie Kingston on the March 20 episode of Dynamite last year.
As AEW International Champion, Okada’s reign will shortly pass 30 days, following his aforementioned victory over Kenny Omega.
He will defend the Unified Championship at AEW Forbidden Door against Swerve Strickland, with that match taking place in London, England, on August 24.
