AEW Having Live Crowds Again Soon?

AEW Having Live Crowds Again Soon?

It looks as though All Elite Wrestling (AEW) could be getting closer to being able to put on shows in front of live crowds once again.

The Jacksonville Jaguars, which is owned by AEW lead investor Shahid Khan, announced today that its stadium, the TIAA Bank Field, would be expecting no more than 25% capacity for the upcoming season.

As well as that, everyone in attendance would be required to wear masks and adhere to social distancing guidelines. The 25% capacity means that up to 16,791 fans would be able to be in attendance.

AEW is currently taping its shows at Daily’s Place, which is attached to TIAA Bank Field, and we’ve seen the promotion venture into the stadium for brawls and the Stadium Stampede at Double or Nothing.

The promotion is now allowing more people into shows, with non-crew members having been present at the tapings for Fyter Fest, although they were kept in the upper bowl and entirely separate from crew members and staff. The people brought in were said to be invited sponsors of the aforementioned venues who were allowed to bring family and friends.

If Khan was to implement the same restrictions onto Daily’s Place as he has for TIAA Bank Field, a 25% capacity would mean up to 1,375 fans would be able to be in attendance. There are, however, other things to consider, such as the likelihood of spoilers getting out if multiple shows are taped in advance like they have been recently, which has been done to ensure the safety of wrestlers and staff who have to travel.

Of course, nothing has been announced by the promotion yet and the idea that it could follow in the same footsteps as the Jaguars is just speculation, so stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com for any updates.
