AEW star Matt Hardy has stated that WWE’s Seth Rollins won him over with his recent shot at CM Punk.
There is currently a lot of uncertainty surrounding the wrestling future of CM Punk, who has been off AEW TV since his post-All Out media scrum verbal tirade, and the backstage altercation that followed.
While CM Punk is currently recovering from a torn tricep injury, it is unclear whether he will return to AEW, wrestle elsewhere, or hang up his boots for good.
Ahead of Royal Rumble, Seth Rollins made it clear that he doesn’t want Punk back in WWE, telling Nick Hausman of Wrestling Inc:
“Oh Philly Phil, stay away. Stay away you cancer. Get away from me forever.
“Yeah no I don’t like Phil, he’s a jerk. Did we just figure that out? Everyone in the room is like ‘oh no, did he say that?’ Yeah, no he’s a jerk. We figured that out over there, we knew it over here, I don’t want him back.
“Go do something else. Bye bye, see you later!”

On his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Hardy noted that Rollins’ comments amused him, noting (via SEScoops):
“He especially won me over just because of his comments on Punk the other day, I popped huge when I saw that. I was laughing out loud. Very funny stuff.”
Hardy most recently wrestled on the February 3 edition of Rampage, teaming with Ethan Page & Isiah Kassidy to unsuccessfully challenge for The Elite’s AEW Trios Championship.
