MJF is dealing with multiple injuries and is considering options for the most serious of them following AEW Worlds End.
As previously reported, the former AEW World Champion is currently out of action with a shoulder injury.
He is also reportedly considering whether to undergo surgery, which take longer for his return, or rehab.
Dave Meltzer has revealed the extent of MJF’s injuries in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, writing:
“MJF worked the match in great pain with his torn labrum, as well as hip injury from the crazy elbow drop off the top rope to the floor in the Jay White match at Full Gear.
“The shoulder injury is the most serious. He’s hoping to have it heal through rehab rather than surgery, because surgery would put him out for months, and he was told perhaps close to a year, which he wants to avoid.
“But long-term, he’s young and getting this fixed long-term could be a lot better than it constantly being a problem for the rest of his career.
“As of now, he and doctors will determine what direction he tries.”
Meltzer also provided an update on MJF’s status in AEW, confirming that his free agency is a storyline.
MJF was removed from the AEW roster page shortly after the Worlds End pay-per-view on December 30, 2023.
WrestleTalk wishes MJF the best in his recovery from injury.
