Planned AEW Match Potentially Being Canceled AEW

A planned AEW match is at risk of being cancelled due to the health of a top star.

As announced following the match at Revolution, Ospreay was set to take on his United Empire and Don Callis Family teammate Kyle Fletcher in singles action at this week’s Dynamite (March 6).

Speaking at the AEW Revolution media scrum, company CEO Tony Khan sat alongside Ospreay, and gave an update on the planned match between the two, suggesting that it could be cancelled based on Ospreay’s condition:

Khan: “On the pay-per-view broadcast we announced there will be a match – Ospreay vs. Kyle Fletcher.

“This is a great opportunity for me to say though officially and this is acting in the capacity as the GM here, with the injury report I would say after that match you sir are questionable for Wednesday, so let’s see.

“I’m very much hoping for Ospreay vs. Fletcher but we’ll see how you’re doing.”

Ospreay: “Let’s keep it pencilled in for now.”

Khan: “He talked me into not scratching it.”

At the scrum, Ospreay showed off a massive contusion on his lower back – which formed as a direct result of a frightening brainbuster from Takeshita to Ospreay on the ring turnbuckle.

Despite the unimaginable pain that must have caused, Ospreay would finish the match and pick up the victory in the end.

We’ll provide any further updates on Ospreay’s health as/when they’re available.
