A previously taped AEW match has been changed before it makes it to air on this week’s Rampage (March 1).
Due to the cancellation of the previously announced Meat Madness match at Revolution, a new match was made in its place – the All-Star Scramble match.
While the match has eight spots to fill, only six competitors were confirmed following this week’s Dynamite (February 28), with the final two confirmed to be determined on Rampage and Collision (March 2).
However, while Collision was taped on the same night as Dynamite, Rampage was taped on February 24, way before the decision was made to stage the All-Star Scramble match.
This has resulted in a case of retroactive booking, as AEW have now added a qualification stipulation to the already taped match between Matt Sydal and CMLL star Magnus
As confirmed by Fighful Select, the match did not originally have this stipulation and was just a regular singles match.
It remains to be seen how AEW will handle this change on the Rampage broadcast itself, with commentary and talent obviously being unaware of the future stakes that would be added to the bout, but there is the luxury of being able to add in new commentary.
