Tony Khan Announces Crossover With AEW Star’s Wrestling Promotion

Tony Khan has announced that a crossover show with an AEW star’s own wrestling promotion will take place later this month.

With regular crossovers with CMLL and NJPW, this new venture sees a new partnership formed at the upcoming Global Wars.

Tony Khan confirmed that ROH would be teaming up with Metroplex Wrestling, a company owned by Athena.

The announcement was shared on the Ring of Honor Twitter account, with ROH x Metroplex Wrestling Global Wars to be taped on January 24, and streaming on January 29.

Addressing the upcoming event, the ROH Women’s World Champion Athena stated:

“It is going to absolutely phenomenal and one that no-one is gonna miss.

“But, when my Minions prove that they are best in the entire world, we’re going to continue with this forever… just like my championship reign, boss.”

Tony Khan would note that the forever reign “remains to be seen”, with Athena having held the title since Final Battle in December 2022 and sitting at over 1,133 days as champion.

Athena has also addressed ROH x Multiplex Wrestling Global Wars on Twitter, posting:

“Y’all better be ready, Minions!!! Im bringing my very best!!!!”

At AEW Worlds End in December of last year, Athena teamed with Mercedes Mone to challenge Babes of Wrath (Harley Cameron & Willow Nightingale) for the Women’s World Tag Team Championship.

Having been unsuccessful in that attempt and subsequently losing the TBS Championship to Nightingale at New Year’s Smash, Mone is taking a break from AEW.
