Real Reason AEW Star Has Been Off TV Recently AEW

Just over a year into their AEW journey, the reason that a star has been off television recently has been revealed.

Rush signed with AEW in May 2022 and made his debut at Double of Nothing, aligning with Andrade El Idolo.

Since his debut, Rush has been involved in a feud with the Lucha Bros, and teamed with Dragon Lee and Andrade in the AEW World Trios Championship Tournament.

He’s also had his shot at AEW singles gold, competing in a three-way match for the AEW All-Atlantic Championship taking on the reigning Orange Cassidy and Dark Order’s 10 (Preston Vance, who later joined Rush’s faction).

Rush last appeared on AEW Rampage on the May 26 episode as La Faccion Ingobernable (Dralistico, Preston Vance & Rush) took on The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) and Billy Gunn.

He also had a controversial match with Jack Perry on Dynamite before Perry’s AEW World Championship match at Double Or Nothing.

Dave Meltzer has now addressed Rush’s absence in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), stating:

Rush has been out of action of late due to what was said to be fixing visa issues, similar to why Komander was gone for a few weeks recently and why Bandido, Penta & Fenix were gone at different times this year, plus a lot of the U.K. crew in NXT

Visa issues prevent international wrestlers from working in the United States until the issues can be resolved.

In January 2023, a visa issue was described as a “stressful situation” in an episode of Being the Elite as it potentially affected the best-of-seven series that was underway at the time between The Elite and Death Triangle.

The issues also caused issues for a collective of former NXT UK talent who have since returned to WWE television on NXT in the US.
