An AEW star has revealed advice they got from Orange Cassidy for their ongoing championship run in the company.
Orange Cassidy’s first run as the AEW International Champion saw him fend off all challengers great and small.
Cassidy ended up losing the title to Jon Moxley in the main event of AEW All Out, but months of incredible matches helped raise the stock of Cassidy, the championship and most of his opponents.
Speaking to WrestleZone, AEW TBS Champion Kris Statlander spoke about Cassidy, and the advice he gave her for her title run.
She said:
“I’ve learned so much from him, he’s been a mentor and a friend to me pretty much my entire career with AEW and I think what he really instilled in me is that — Obviously you want to win your match, and you want to continue be the champion, nobody really wants to lose. But, take it as an opportunity to bring the best out of your opponent and try to elevate them to see if they are ready to be a champion or not. Every match that I have, it’s not just for me, it’s about pushing people to see if they’re ready for the spot that I’m in.”
Statlander is set to defend the title against Skye Blue and Julia Hart at tonight’s AEW Full Gear pay-per-view event.
