AEW Star Reacts To Blackpool Combat Club’s Challenge AEW

Former AEW World Tag Team Champion Dax Harwood of FTR has reacted to the Blackpool Combat Club’s ROH Final Battle challenge.

On the December 7 edition of ROH TV on Honor Club, Bryan Danielson and Wheeler Yuta challenged FTR and Mark Briscoe to a Jay Briscoe tribute trios match against the Blackpool Combat Club at ROH Final Battle.

The challenge was quickly accepted with the added stipulation of a Fight Without Honor.

Ahead of the showdown, FTR’s Dax Harwood took to social media to post a promo from his home talking about why this match is important and being bothered that the BCC made this challenge. He said:

“Friday night in Dallas, Texas is going to be a really important night to me, a really important night to the wrestling industry. I think more importantly it’s an important night for Mark Briscoe.”

“And I know I should have saved this promo for the pristine cameras of AEW and the great production work they have for their television show, but I started to think, ‘man, that ain’t what Jay would’ve done, that ain’t what Mark and Jay would’ve done.'”

“What they would’ve done is they would’ve grab their phone, they would’ve went to the back of the chicken coop, they would’ve sat their phone up and they would’ve said what’s on their heart, made you feel what they were feeling. That’s what I love most about them.”

“And look we’re talking about the B.C.C., the Blackpool Combat Club. I have all the respect in the world for all three of those guys. Bryan, I love your work. I think you’re incredible. Claudio, same thing for you. And Mox, you’re a sick son of a bitch and I can resonate with that. And I respect you too.”

Harwood continued on to explain why he has taken issue with Bryan’s challenge, saying:

“But the thing I don’t respect is you laying out a challenge Bryan. You laying out a challenge for Jay Briscoe, to honor Jay Briscoe.”

“If there’s one thing I know about Jay Briscoe, and I’m fortunate enough and lucky enough and blessed enough to be able to say that I think that family calls me and Cash a part of their family.”

“One thing Jay wouldn’t have wanted is something to honor him. Because honoring Jay meant fighting, that’s all he liked to do was fight.”

“And so I saw the poster, a great, beautiful poster and I hope they all sell out. It’s a fight for Jay Briscoe, this isn’t a fight for Jay Briscoe. This isn’t a fight to honor Jay Briscoe. You had it right the first time, this is a Fight Without Honor because that’s what Jay would’ve wanted.”

“And as much as I appreciate you trying to respect Jay and his legacy and his name. What I don’t respect is you stepping up to us, you stepping up to the plate.”

“And respect only goes a certain amount, respect only goes so far. And I know what Jay would’ve done, Jay would’ve respected you, but when he walked through the curtain, he would’ve beat your ass.”

Harwood concluded by getting fired up and showing the blood stained tights he wore during FTR’s bloody Dog Collar match against The Briscoes at last year’s ROH Final Battle. He said:

“And in Dallas, Texas, Friday night, it ain’t gonna be no handshakes, ain’t gonna be no hugs, no crying because I’m coming Friday night, so is Cash, so is Mark, I know them, I know them like the back of my hands.”

“We’re brothers, we’re blood brothers, damnit we are blood brothers. This is soaked in Mark and Jay’s blood, in my blood, in Cash’s blood. I keep this around as a reminder for who I am, what I am, what this business, and what this sport means to me.”

“And you, you now are standing across the ring from us and you’re taking that respect from us. What that means to us, you’re trying to take from us, so now I will fight for Jay okay. I will fight for Jay’s honor.”

“But it ain’t gonna be a little great exhibition. It’s gonna be a fight. If you want a fight, if you like fighting, I’ll give you the damnest fight you’ve ever had. Dem Top Guys Out!”
