The latest update has emerged on AEW star and former tag team champion Cash Wheeler following his arrest back in August 2023.
Wheeler, real name Daniel Wheeler, turned himself into police on Friday, August 18 following an incident on July 27 where he was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm.
The situation was described as a “road rage type incident” where Wheeler “allegedly flashed a handgun at the alleged victim”.
A warrant was issued on July 28, and on August 3, he filed a not guilty plea.
On the day he turned himself in, his bond was set at $2500 and he was ordered to turn in any weapons he currently owns within 12 hours of being released, and have no contact with the victim, who isn’t someone he knows.
On February 1, as reported by PWInsider, the decision was made to move forward with pursuing charges against Wheeler.
Aggravated assault with a firearm could lead up to five years in prison, five years’ probation and a fine of $5,000 via Florida law.
A hearing is listed for February 20.
After news of the arrest came out last year, AEW stated:
“AEW has been made aware of the charge, and we are closely monitoring the situation. He is fully cooperating with local authorities.”
We’ll keep you posted with any further updates.
