AEW Star Dubbed The ‘Future Of Pro Wrestling’ By Backstage Name AEW

A backstage AEW name has dubbed a rising star in the company the “future” of the company and pro wrestling as a whole.

2024 has been a breakout year for Australian AEW star Kyle Fletcher, with the 25-year-old beginning the year as ROH Television Champion and finishing it by defeating Will Ospreay one-on-one at Full Gear.

With Fletcher having a strong chance of advancing to the AEW Continental Classic finals, the former Aussie Open star has now been dubbed the “future of pro wrestling” by AEW producer Sonjay Dutt.

Speaking in an interview with Mike Jones, Dutt had glowing praise for Fletcher’s talents and future in the industry:

“The first person that comes to my mind is Kyle Fletcher. I’ve been a big proponent and fan of Kyle’s progression over the last couple of years.

“From the day he first stepped foot in AEW as part of the United Empire, fast forward that to today and the type of man he is, not just in the ring, but outside the ring. He has matured immensely.

“His star is rising day by day. Victories over Will Ospreay, Okada. You can’t put a price tag on that, the combination of all of that.

“He’s gotten himself in incredible shape. He’s over six foot tall. He’s in his 20s. To me, he’s not just the future of AEW, but I think he’s the future of pro wrestling.”

Fletcher is tied with Mark Briscoe at the top of the AEW Continental Classic Blue League heading into the final AEW Dynamite before Worlds End on December 28, recording nine points thus far.

Full spoilers from the Christmas Day edition of AEW Dynamite are now available, revealing how Fletcher fared in his final Blue League match against Daniel Garcia.
