An AEW star is now set to be gone from TV for an “extended period” of time according to a new report.
On the November 25 edition of AEW Rampage Katsuyori Shibata saw his 239 day ROH Pure Championship reign end at the hands of the Blackpool Combat Club’s Wheeler Yuta.
According to Fightful Select, the reason for the change was due to Shibata needing to return to Japan “as soon as possible.”
The report doesn’t specify the exact reason why Shibata has to return to his home country, however, does reveal that ROH hoped to delay the plans until after the upcoming ROH Final Battle pay-per-view on December 15.
Despite having to drop his title, Shibata loved” the creative plans that played out on Rampage involving HOOK saving him from an attack from Yuta.
The report also notes that Shibata has enjoyed working with both HOOK and International Champion Orange Cassidy recently.
It’s unclear when Shibata will be back on AEW TV but make sure to they tuned to WrestleTalk for any updates.
