Claudio Castagnoli Praises WWE Backstage Name In-Ring Potential WWE/AEW

AEW star Claudio Castagnoli has praised a WWE backstage name’s in-ring potential.

Claudio Castagnoli spent 11 years with WWE as Cesaro from 2011 to 2022. Along the way, he became a tag team specialist as a seven-time WWE Tag Team Champion.

One of his tag team partners for one of the reigns was Tyson Kidd, who saw his in-ring career come to an end in 2017 due to a spinal cord injury.

Speaking with The Kurt Angle Show, Castagnoli praised how good Tyson Kidd is in the ring.

He said:

“Unfortunately, people probably never saw his full potential. He’s amazing, he is so good. I am very happy that he is using his genius now to help other people, and help make wrestling a better place for everybody.”

The former WWE star added to discuss his experience working and teaming with Kidd, saying:

“It was so fun teaming with him because we were on the same page from the second we stepped out of the curtain, even though we barely talked beforehand. Then we traveled together, we worked out together, we shared hotel rooms and locker rooms and everything. It just clicked, and we are still really good friends, he is such a student of the game.”

Tyson Kidd, real name TJ Wilson, still works with WWE as a producer and is often credited for his work with the women’s division.

Meanwhile, Claudio Castagnoli left WWE in February 2022 and signed with AEW in June. He debuted for the company in a win over NJPW’s Zack Sabre Jr. at Forbidden Door.

Since then, Castagnoli defeated Jonathan Gresham to win the ROH World Championship at Death Before Dishonor in July.
