AEW Star Suspended

AEW Star Suspended AEW

A current AEW star has been suspended by the company following the fallout of a recent television match they had.

On the episode of AEW Rampage taped back on February 14, Sammy Guevara faced off against Jeff Hardy in singles action.

During the match, Hardy suffered a concussion, with Guevara then proceeding to hit his finisher on Hardy.

In an update from Fightful Select (subscription required), AEW has since suspended Sammy Guevara in relation to the match, as concussion protocol was not followed, and Sammy hitting Jeff with his finisher not supposed to have happened.

Fightful was not given any specifics on how long Sammy’s suspension will last, and he has worked a no disqualification match with Powerhouse Hobbs back on the February 24 episode of Rampage.

There is no timetable on Jeff Hardy’s return to AEW.

The suspension is not Sammy’s first suspension in AEW, with him previously serving a suspension in relation to offensive comments made prior to him joining the company.

Guevara also had some time off in relation to a backstage altercation with Andrade El Idolo, though Fightful wasn’t told that was a formal suspension.
