AEW stars Rush & Dralistico have congratulated Dragon Lee ahead of his first-ever WWE WrestleMania match later this month.
With WWE WrestleMania 42 taking place on April 18 & 19, Dragon Lee has now been announced for the WWE Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match slated for the event, with JD McDonagh, Je’Von Evans and Rusev also vying to take Penta’s title.
With the news of Dragon Lee’s first WrestleMania moment, AEW stars and his real-life brothers Dralistico and Rush sent their congratulations to their former La Facción Ingobernable teammate.
Rush shared that he was proud of the WWE star in a tweet accompanied by a photo of the pair with their respecting ROH titles, stating:
“You are about to fulfil another dream.
“Proud of you @dragonlee95
“You deserve everything, hermano
“Te amo ❤️”
Dralistico would share images featuring the AEW star and Dragon Lee with championships, tweeting (and translated from Spanish):
“Huge congratulations 🎈🍾🎊🎉, brother, for another dream fulfilled in your career.
“I love you, bro. You deserve it, I’m proud of you @dragonlee95”
Responding to Rush on Twitter (translated from Spanish), Dragon lee would share his thanks, posting:
“Brother! Thank you so much, you know how hard I’ve worked on those!! I love you, you’ll always be my example!”
Dragon Lee signed with WWE in late 2022 and went on to hold the NXT North American Championship, also becoming a WWE Speed Champion.
October of last year saw Dragon Lee and AJ Styles become WWE Tag Team Champions, marking the first time the Mexican star had a secured main roster title.
WWE Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match At WrestleMania 42 Plans
This week’s episode of WWE Raw saw Penta retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Kofi Kingston.
Post-match, Penta took to the mic to announce the ladder match at WrestleMania 42 against anyone who wants to be part of the match.
It was later clarified that Penta, Dragon Lee, Je’Von Evans, Rusev and JD McDonagh were the contenders “thus far”.
Further details emerged on the WWE website, which revealed that the qualifying matches for the ladder match all took place on episodes of Main Event.
For those who may not keep up with the weekly YouTube series, the WWE feature states that JD McDonagh defeated Akira Tozawa, with that match seeming to be from the January 23 episode, while Dragon Lee qualified by beating Grayson Waller on February 12. Yet to air, Je’Von Evans would be victorious over Rayo Americano, and Rusev defeated Otis, with both matches taking place on the upcoming April 2 show.
As with all WWE Main Event matches, these were pre-taped ahead of the show itself, with the most recent being recorded at Madison Square Garden, the home of this week’s WWE Raw.
