Cost Of AEW Star Will Ospreay’s Neck Surgery Revealed

An indication of the cost of Will Ospreay’s neck surgery, as paid for by AEW owner Tony Khan, has been revealed.

It was recently revealed that Tony Khan paid for Will Ospreay to undergo neck surgery after the star was sidelined following last year’s AEW Forbidden Door.

Ospreay indicated that surgery had cost “more than” his own house in England, although he wouldn’t reveal any more when it came to the actual cost.

During a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Ospreay would give a closer indication as to the cost of the procedure, although he admitted that he may need to get his home valued again, saying:

“I need to get my house re-evaluated, but I believe this house is 420k, more than that.

“I saw that bill, and… I could not believe it. I’ve never seen anything like that in my life. I could have afforded it, I easily could have.

“The fact that Tony did that for me speaks volumes about how much he cares about the talent.”

The Aerial Assassin wouldn’t specify if he was converting the value to dollars, although it seems likely he was referring to the British pound when it comes to the amount.

Ospreay would also reveal that he and Tony have a “lot of love and respect” for each other.

The Respect For Tony Khan Goes Both Ways

There’s little doubt that respect is a core quality when it comes to AEW stars and Tony Khan. Also speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Adam Copeland commented on Khan being a “good” man, something he has grown to appreciate.

When initially discussing Tony Khan paying for the surgery, Ospreay commented that he would be a “little soldier” for Khan for the rest of his life. It’s that level of loyalty that a star, even one as prominent as Ospreay, has that seemingly leads to a heightened degree of respect for the AEW owner.

Khan likely rewards the loyalty of his roster members across the card, increasing the level of loyalty that they show to him. This isn’t to take a cynical approach and claim that loyalty is a boardroom bargaining chip, just that the AEW president recognizes the value as a human trait.

With a past report noting how TKO is handling cuts in the wake of the departure of Sheamus from WWE, Khan’s approach to business seems much less cutthroat, particularly with more seasoned stars.

Darby Allin recently reflected on the early years of AEW and how some stars treated it as spring break, taking it for granted and seeing an easy payday. He would go on to note that a shared attitude of caring for the company is what he seeks among the roster.

It’s easy to see that level of caring for AEW that Allin wants to see brought to the fore when stars such as Ospreay are treated in the way they are by the man at the top.
