AEW’s Will Ospreay Addresses NJPW Return Plans AEW

Will Ospreay has addressed his NJPW return plans following his recovery from neck surgery, which has seen him sidelined in AEW.

Having last been in action at AEW Forbidden Door in August of last year, Will Ospreay made a return to NJPW to celebrate the retirement of Hiroshi Tanahashi at Wrestle Kingdom 20.

With NJPW New Year Dash taking place on January 5, Ospreay was also present for that show, seeking to ease the tensions between Callum Newman of United Empire and David Finlay of Bullet Club War Dogs.

Ospreay promised that he would return to NJPW when he is ‘fully healed’, promising to make things right with Newman, who is a former protege of the AEW star.

While Ospreay hoped to heal the fractures on Newman’s terms, the “Prince of Pace” took exception to the suggestion, only being stopped from taking a chair to the back of the injured star’s head by his United Empire teammates.

Ospreay would react to the issues between himself and Newman in a tweet that reads:

“I gotta put things right.”

He would also share further details of his plans for his NJPW return in backstage comments at the Tokyo Dome, stating:

“(After my return) First, there are some things I need to take care of in AEW. That’s my main battlefield, the place where I keep fighting every week. But I want to come back. Even if it’s just for two events a year, or three, or five. I definitely want to make it happen. And going forward, I want to support Callum.”

In November of last year, it was reported that Ospreay had “some way to go” six weeks after undergoing neck surgery.

WrestleTalk wishes Will Ospreay well in his recovery from neck surgery as he works towards his return to in-ring action.
