WWE/AEW
An AEW star has recalled previous WWE interest, discussing his experience speaking with the company.
Kyle Fletcher is currently establishing himself as one of AEW’s most consistent talents, with the former TNT Champion having practically reinvented himself since officially signing with the company in May 2023.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Fletcher revealed that he had contact with WWE ahead of ultimately putting pen to paper with AEW.
Explaining why he didn’t choose to pursue WWE, Fletcher said:
“We had one kind of official (call). At the time it was myself and Mark Davis as Aussie Open, we had like a Zoom call with them.
“We spoke about what the deal would entail, that sort of thing. I think when it got to that point, it just didn’t feel like the right fit at the time.
“We didn’t get super close, it was kind of like at the point where there was options there. But AEW was just the right fit for us at the time.”
Kyle Fletcher is currently competing as part of the Gold League in the Continental Classic tournament.
He most recently wrestled on the December 10 “Winter is Coming” edition of Dynamite, losing to Mike Bailey in tournament action.
