News reports from today have been making the rounds, claiming that former WWE star Carlito has potentially re-signed with the company.
The rumours started with Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Radio, who claimed that he had heard that Carlito had pulled out of a planned independent appearance for Great North Wrestling due to ‘signing with WWE’.
Meltzer was quoted as saying:
“He (Carlito) had an independent show on July 15 for Devon Nicholson in Canada, and he called him up to cancel and said that he has signed with WWE. So… perhaps he has signed with WWE. That’s what Devon Nicholson said today.”
In a major update, SEScoops reached out to Great North Wrestling for clarification on the rumour, where they were also told by the promotion that Carlito had claimed he had re-signed with WWE.
The following information was provided by Anthony Ambrose:
“Carlito informed Great North Wrestling EVP Jack Kilby on June 14th that he pulled out of our July 15th event in Smiths Falls Ontario that he had previously agreed to because he had re-signed with WWE and it would be a violation of his contract. He returned his deposit and we are currently in talks with several other ex WWE stars to replace him at the event.”
Carlito made a surprise return appearance at WWE Backlash in Puerto Rico last month, where he aided Bad Bunny to help fight off the Judgment Day during Bunny’s Street Fight with Damian Priest.
