Bayley Opens Up About How Bray Wyatt Tribute Show Made Her Reflect On Her Own Legacy WWE

Bayley has opened up about her legacy in both Damage CTRL and WWE after the passing of Bray Wyatt on August 24, 2023.

Wyatt, real name Windham Rotunda, passed away aged 36 with WWE dedicating the August 25 episode of SmackDown to both Rotunda and Terry Funk.

WWE recently released a 35-minute video of several stars talking about the death of Wyatt and the impact that the real-life Windham Rotunda had upon them. You can watch that video below this article.

One of the stars to speak on that video was Bayley, who has since also reflected on her own legacy in the wake of Wyatt’s death, in conversation with The Comeback, saying:

“I really have been trying to reflect on what I want personally out of what I want my legacy to be. After the Bray Wyatt tribute show, I felt I really needed to figure it out. I’m working on my legacy every day and every single week.

“Sometimes, you get lost in the shuffle or the travel and the busy schedule, that at least me personally, I kind of lose sight of what the bigger picture is. And what I’m trying to do.”

Bayley would go on to discuss her hopes to shape the futures of her Damage CTRL teammates, IYO SKY and Dakota Kai, adding:

“I wanna make sure that I’m cementing my legacy, and that goes for Damage CTRL too. IYO, I want her to have the best title run of all time.

“Dakota should get a title shot. All of us end up at WrestleMania in a Triple Threat for the title as best friends? I’m fine with that, too.

“Let’s put that in the universe, I just want to continue to cement a legacy and be able to still inspire the fans and have a connection that I’ve had since day one. And watch us all grow every day.”

She would also reveal her hopes to be in a pay-per-view singles match, stating:

“Last night, I thought about, I haven’t had a singles match on a pay-per-view in a while, and I want a singles match at WrestleMania, and so many things I want.”

Bayley would conclude, however, that the backseat role that she’s taken has had its benefits, allowing her “to see IYO shine and our stories progress, it’s worth it. But you still get hungry on the other side”.

IYO SKY became WWE Women’s Champion after cashing in her Money in the Bank contract at SummerSlam on August 5, 2023, defeating Bianca Belair after the three-way with Charlotte Flair that saw Belair pin Asuka for the belt.

Mercedes Mone has recently stated that she would like a rematch against Bayley.

WWE has added the following note to the item descriptions for Bray Wyatt merch on the WWE Shop website:

In the wake of Bray Wyatt’s death, WWE will donate all net proceeds to support JoJo Offerman and his children.

On Thursday, August 24, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported:

I was given permission to reveal that earlier this year Windham Rotunda (Bray Wyatt) got COVID that exacerbated a heart issues.

There was a lot of positive progress towards a return and his recovery. Unfortunately today he suffered a heart attack and passed away.

Our thoughts and condolences continue to be with the family, friends, and everyone affected by the passing of Windham Rotunda.
