Bobby Roode Names Dream WWE Opponent For Final Match WWE

WWE’s Bobby Roode has named a current SmackDown star as his dream opponent for if he was to wrestle one final match.

Roode hasn’t wrestled since June 2022 and after several medical procedures, made the transition into backstage production.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Roode noted that while he has been medically cleared for a possible in-ring return, he’s happy in his current producer role and will never wrestle full-time again.

Naming AJ Styles as a potential dream opponent, Bobby Roode said:

“You never know. I really wanted that, I really did. There was a moment in the last Royal Rumble I did, the one in St. Louis. I think I came in early, four maybe, and we had a moment, AJ and I had a moment, and there was some rumblings, people kind of remembered, but it quickly went away I got eliminated or whatever.

“I’m all about story, there’s got to be a reason, right? There’s got to be people who need to be emotionally invested in this, I want people to care, I want some meat on the bone there.

“I think AJ would definitely be that guy, we never had the opportunity to work in a singles match.”

Both Bobby Roode and AJ Styles made names for themselves in TNA Wrestling ahead of joining WWE.

Styles made a surprise appearance at Elimination Chamber 2024 to attack LA Knight, fuelling speculation about a potential WrestleMania singles match.

An update recently emerged on plans for AJ Styles at WrestleMania, which you can read more about right here.
