Update On Booker T’s Status On WWE NXT Commentary Team WWE

There is a new update on Booker T’s status on the WWE NXT commentary team.

On October 6, 2022, WWE announced new broadcast teams for all three of their main shows in Raw, SmackDown and NXT.

Among the other changes, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T joined Vic Joseph on the NXT brand, while Joseph’s broadcast partner Wade Barrett was moved to SmackDown to replace Pat McAfee.

With McAfee leaving to work ESPN’s College GameDay every Saturday during the college football season, many fans have been wondering when Pat will return following the season’s conclusion.

Speaking on The Hall Of Fame podcast, Booker T revealed that he is now a full time member of the NXT commentary team.

The former six time world champion noted that his run on the brand was supposed to end in December, but he has instead joined the broadcast team full time. Booker said:

“I gotta get back to work. NXT duties start tomorrow. My thing is, that job was only supposed to be until the end of December.”

“But like I said, what’s that kid’s name that used to work there? Wade Barrett, he’s gone and forgotten, as you can see.”

After being asked to elaborate, Booker T joked that he doesn’t know what Barrett’s future holds, but he won’t be returning to NXT. He said:

“That’s my job now, full-time. I’m full-time on NXT. I’m gonna be in your ear, all up in your ear [laughs]. Every Tuesday night.”

“Wade Barrett, I don’t know if they gonna keep him on, find a spot for him over on Raw, SmackDown or something. But his ass ain’t coming back to NXT. He’s finished, he’s wrapped.”

“Bad news for you. Booker T has stole that spot. I told you guys I was gonna steal it. You don’t give me a job and expect for somebody to come [back].”

“I’m like Tom Brady. Once I get in the game, I ain’t coming out. I’m serious man. The thing is, if wasn’t something that I was expecting or anything like that, but I’m excited about it. I’m excited about his new venture.”
