Bret Hart ‘Surprised’ That WWE Released FTR AEW

Bret Hart has expressed his surprise that WWE released current AEW stars Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler of FTR.

The former Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder of The Revival were let go by WWE in April 2020, after originally requesting their releases in January 2019.

Speaking during a recent K&S WrestleFest autograph signing, the Hitman was full of praise for the tag team of FTR, saying:

“I think they’re the best tag team right now.

“I’m surprised (WWE) let them go … they lost ’em; they don’t understand what tag team wrestling is anymore.”

Harwood & Wheeler were notably the first-ever WWE triple crown tag team champions, holding the NXT, Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Championships in their five-year WWE career.

Since then, the duo played prominent roles in across multiple tag divisions. FTR currently holds the NJPW IWGP Tag Team Championship, the AAA World Tag Team Championship and the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championship, The duo previously held the AEW Tag Team Championship, but haven’t held any AEW gold since losing the title in late-2020.

Hart has acted as a manager for FTR at several independent shows this year, most recently accompanying the AEW team to the ring for a match against Homicide & Jay Lethal at the October 22 Big Time Wrestling event.
