An update has emerged on WWE’s plans for a huge Brock Lesnar dream match at WrestleMania 39 in April 2023.
Brock Lesnar is one of WWE’s biggest part-time stars. It was always expected that Lesnar would be factored into WrestleMania 39 plans, with the event set to emanate from California’s SoFi Stadium on April 1-2 next year.
It has now been revealed that WWE plans for Lesnar to face off against a dominant rising star.
Per WrestlingNews.co, the current plan is for Brock Lesnar to face GUNTHER at WrestleMania 39. The bout is already internally listed for the event.
The report also noted that Lesnar is scheduled to make appearances at the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber premium live events in January and February respectively.
GUNTHER is currently the WWE Intercontinental Champion. He won the title from Ricochet on the June 10 edition of SmackDown.
The SmackDown star recently named Lesnar as his dream WWE opponent, noting the following to WMBD News:
“If I had to pin it down to one name, I’d say it’s Brock Lesnar at the moment. When I was young and watching WWE, I enjoyed watching his matches.
“Later on when I progressed in my career, I was able to watch wrestling and analyze how people work. He’s always been somebody I was impressed with.
“He’s one of the best to ever do it. I think that’s the biggest possible challenge for me at the moment.”
WrestleMania 39 will be the first WrestleMania booked under the Triple H regime, with The Game currently overseeing all WWE creative as the company’s Chief Content Officer.
