It was reported yesterday that WWE is considering two matches for WWE Champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 in April 2020.
The first is a grudge match with long-time rival Cain Velasquez. This comes after Velasquez lost his WWE debut to Lesnar at Crown Jewel last month. The second is a showdown with Tyson Fury.
However, Brock Lesnar is expected to be back in a WWE ring several months before the big show in April 2020.
According to Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, Lesnar will likely be returning to WWE TV in January 2020 to set up a match at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
“Lesnar is expected back on WWE television in January to set up a match for the Royal Rumble PPV.”
Lesnar’s last WWE match came at the Survivor Series pay-per-view against Rey Mysterio. Mysterio has now won the United States Championship, so it is unlikely that he will be challenging Brock in early 2020.
With regards to his opponent, some have speculated that WWE could have Lesnar face either Velasquez or Fury, allowing Brock to face the other at WrestleMania. Stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com for the latest.
