Bryan Danielson Calls Match With AEW Star ‘A Real Possibility’ AEW

“The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson has called a match with AEW commentator Nigel McGuinness “a real possibility.”

Ahead of AEW All In London 2023, Nigel McGuinness was more open than ever about the fact that he wanted to not only compete on the show, but face off with his career rival Bryan Danielson at Wembley Stadium.

However, Danielson suffered a broken arm against Kazuchika Okada at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023. He would go on to miss AEW All In before returning after to face Ricky Starks at the following week’s All Out in Chicago.

Now with AEW All In 2024 tickets on sale, Bryan seems more open to face his old rival with the fact that he has stated he will be finishing up his full time wrestling run.

Speaking with Daily Mail’s Alex McCarthy, Bryan Danielson admitted that McGuinness may be able to hang with him in the ring. He said:

“Maybe one day I can get a rematch with Nigel McGuiness at Wembley. I know Nigel was really big on it last year but I at the time I wasn’t sure if he could hang with me.”

“Now, he has worked his ass off and got himself in great shape, since then my health has a little bit deteriorated, so now I see that as a real possibility.”

“He and I had some incredible matches that comparatively few people saw right like when you’re talking about like the matches we had in 2006 through kind of 2009, the Internet wasn’t what it is today.”

“Our generation has such a nostalgia for Wembley and especially UK wrestlers, especially Nigel, has talked about the SummerSlam in 1992 and as an American I never even thought I’d see Britain, so I’ve just marvelled at this thing.”

Bryan and Nigel have not shared the ring since their final ROH match in September of 2009 at Glory By Honor, where Danielson was the victor. Nigel McGuinness is currently on the AEW commentary team.

Meanwhile, Bryan Danielson is currently in the AEW Continental Classic. He recently picked up his first loss in the tournament against Andrade El Idolo in the Blue League on the December 9 edition of AEW Collision.
