Chris Jericho Files To Trademark ‘Sports Entertainer’

Chris Jericho Files To Trademark ‘Sports Entertainer’ AEW

According to the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO), AEW’s Chris Jericho has filed for a new trademark.

On February 28, Jericho (under his real name, Chris Irvine) filed an application to trademark the term ‘SPORTS ENTERTAINER’.

The following description accompanied the filing:

IC 025. US 022 039. G & S: Hats; Shirts; Bandanas; Sweatshirts; Hooded sweatshirts
IC 041. US 100 101 107. G & S: Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a professional wrestler, musician, or podcaster; Entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a professional wrestler, musician, or podcaster; Entertainment services, namely, televised appearances by a professional wrestler, musician, or podcaster; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Providing online interviews featuring professional wrestler, musician, or podcaster in the field of professional wrestling, music, or podcasting for entertainment purposes

‘Sports Entertainment’ is notably the term that WWE uses to describe in-ring action, instead of ‘pro wrestling’. Vince McMahon recently explained why WWE doesn’t use the words ‘wrestling’ and ‘wrestlers’, which you can read about right here.

Jericho is set to do battle with Eddie Kingston at this weekend’s AEW Revolution pay-per-view. Check out the announced line-up for Sunday’s event at this link.
