Cody Rhodes Shares Backstage Details On Memorable AEW Moment WWE/AEW

WWE star Cody Rhodes has shared some not previously known backstage details on a memorable moment from his tenure in AEW.

As Cody Rhodes prepares to main event his second-straight WrestleMania against Roman Reigns, his time a founding father of AEW feels like a bit of a distant memory.

However, when a Twitter user posted a clip celebrating the four year anniversary of one of Rhodes’ most memorable AEW matches, it forced a bit of reminiscing on The American Nightmare’s part.

The moment in question came from the February 19, 2020 edition of Dynamite, during Rhodes’ intense feud with former protege MJF.

Ahead of an eventual match with MJF at Revolution 2020, Rhodes faced off with the former AEW World Champion’s muscle, Wardlow inside a steel cage.

The match was not only important to the feud, but it was also Wardlow’s first-ever match in the company – marking a memorable debut for the Undisputed Kingdom member.

While the match is well remembered, the part that lives long in fans’ and Rhodes’ minds is the conclusion, which saw the former three-time TNT Champion perform a huge moonsault off the (very tall) cage onto Wardlow below.

In response to a Twitter user who posted a clip of the moment, Rhodes reflected on it and revealed just why the cage was designed to be so high.

Rhodes said:

Can’t get mad at how high the cage was considering I helped design it

Always love competing in Atlanta, fun memory

Despite having now been over two years removed from his final AEW match, Rhodes is someone some talent still think highly of – as was evident from comments made by Darby Allin on last week’s Dynamite (February 14).

Following a lot of talk online regarding Allin’s comments, the current AEW Tag Team Champion addressed his mention of Rhodes.
