In the opening match on tonight’s edition of WWE SmackDown (April 19) the challenger for Cody Rhodes at Backlash was revealed.
After a pair of triple threat matches last week on the show narrowed the field to two challengers, AJ Styles and LA Knight had a WrestleMania 40 rematch to get a title shot.
Kicking off the show on a fun note, fast paced action between AJ Styles and LA Knight as the pair continued their personal rivalry.
In the end, AJ Styles picked up the victory and will go on to face Cody Rhodes for the WWE Undisputed Championship at the upcoming premium live event, Backlash.
Elsewhere on tonight’s show, Bayley will defend her WWE Women’s Championship against Naomi in the show’s main event.
Also Solo Sikoa was shown arriving in a suit and demanding to know from Paul Heyman where Kevin Owens was as he set out to find him along with Tama Tonga.
