The war has started everyone, so it’s time to get into your bomb shelters and start rationing. Just as we were getting ready for two hours of NXT and AEW, Cody comes out and says AEW could now be three hours long.
Speaking to IGN, Cody explained that, due to AEW’s desire to cycle through talent on a weekly basis, a third hour could be needed in the hope that it will engage fans more with their wrestlers.
“It will probably live for people to stream on B/R Live,” Rhodes said. “We have a lot of resources and we want to make sure that people can plug into the wrestlers who we signed who they’re fans of. We’re going to try and keep everybody busy.”
AEW will start going head to head with NXT on October 2, by which time NXT will already have aired two of its live shows, after it debuted on the USA Network last night.
AEW’s debut TNT show already has a stacked card, but if NXT keeps putting on shows like it did last night, it’s going to be a very hard war to win.
Here is the line-up for AEW’s debut:
- Jon Moxley appears live
- Cody Rhodes vs. Sammy Guevara
- The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega vs. AEW World Champion Chris Jericho and two mystery partners
- Nyla Rose vs. Riho to crown the first-ever AEW Women’s World Champion
- MJF vs. Brandon Cutler
