Controversy Surrounding Title Change On WWE Raw WWE

I think it’s fair to say the vast majority of fans thought Dakota Kai and IYO SKY were going to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship on last night’s (August 29) Raw, so when Aliyah and Raquel Rodriguez were crowned champions, there were a lot of surprised faces in the crowd.

While I’m sure Triple H has his reasons for this creative decision, the story WWE was telling did seem to be pointing towards SKY and Kai winning. Many even felt a Dakota and IYO win would pave the way for a Sasha Banks and Naomi return, to win the belts they never actually lost.

However, as many fans have now pointed out, there is plenty of controversy surrounding the finish of the match, which saw Dakota Kai getting rolled up.

Fans have tweeted in their thousands to inform us all that Dakota Kai was in fact not the legal person in the match, and therefore according to the rules of pro-wrestling, the finish should not have happened the way it did.

Whether this was intentional and a way of furthering the story is unclear, but if we hear anything more on the matter, we will of course let you know as soon as possible.

Aliyah and Raquel Rodriguez are the first women’s tag champions since Sasha Banks and Naomi relinquished their belts when they both walked out of WWE in May 2022.
