UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier has commented on speculation that he’s preparing for a WWE match against Brock Lesnar.
Cormier will be the special guest referee for the Matt Riddle vs Seth Rollins Fight Pit match at Extreme Rules on October 8.
Some have theorised that this bout will serve as Cormier’s introduction to WWE, ahead of an in-ring debut.
Speaking with ESPN, Cormier addressed rumors that he will be Brock Lesnar’s next WWE opponent. Stating that there have been no discussions about this potential bout, Cormier said:
“I’ve not heard anything. That’s the thing, right? When something like this happens, and this was, honestly, very good for me because people started to talk. People started talking about, ‘Oh my goodness, I remember when him and Brock were in the octagon and they were supposed to fight.’
“So, it seems to make a lot of sense. But as you know, just because something makes sense see, it doesn’t mean that it’s going to happen. So, no, there is no talk of me fighting Brock Lesnar.”
Lesnar vs Cormier almost happened in the UFC in 2018, after Cormier called out Brock Lesnar following his UFC Heavyweight Championship win.
The Beast last wrestled at SummerSlam, unsuccessfully challenging for Roman Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in a Last Man Standing bout. While Lesnar hasn’t appeared on WWE TV since, he is reportedly set to return ahead of the 2023 WWE Day 1 premium live event.
