Recently compiled data has compared the average age of WWE stars now, compared to 2010 with some eye-opening results.
As posted by Wrestlenomics on Twitter, a graph (see below) was made comparing the ages of stars having matches on Raw and SmackDown in 2023 compared to years gone by.
The data reveals that the median age of stars competing on Raw in 2023 is just above 36, with SmackDown’s at just over 35.
While this may not surprise many as several of the company’s top stars such as Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes are all in their late 30s, it becomes more glaring when comparing to data from the late 2000s and early 2010s.
For comparison ten years ago in 2013, SmackDown had an average just under 32 and Raw just over 32, with years prior to that decreasing even further.
And in 2010 for example, Raw’s average was just under 31, while SmackDown’s was higher at 32.
Then going even further back, in 2007 Raw’s median was just 30-years-old, showing a major jump in just over fifteen years.
While this may seem damning for WWE’s next generation of stars, in their credit the youth movement of NXT will likely see these numbers come down in the years to come.
Looking at NXT’s data, the show’s median age has fallen drastically in recent years, as in 2021 in the tail end of the black and gold era, the average age sat just above 32, now, however, the brand sits at just above 28-years-old.
But it’s not just WWE who’s displaying older talent, as the chart also looked into AEW’s average since its inception in 2019, with their numbers also on the climb across the past four years.
The age of stars on Dynamite sat between 32 and 33 in 2019, however now is close to 35 on average.
Check the embedded tweet below to view the statistics for yourself, with data dating back as far as 1993.
