In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer awarded a 5.25-star rating to WALTER vs Ilja Dragunov.
The match took place this past Sunday at TakeOver 36, and saw Dragunov end WALTER’s 870-day reign as NXT UK Champion.
It was a rematch from October 2020, with Meltzer having given that one five stars at the time.
In his review of Sunday’s match, Meltzer wrote: “The timing of this stuff was just perfect”.
The other star ratings from TakeOver were:
- Cameron Grimes vs. LA Knight – 3.75
- Raquel Gonzalez vs. Dakota Kai – 3.5
- WALTER vs. Ilja Dragunov – 5.25
- Adam Cole vs. Kyle O’Reilly (2/3 falls) – 4.5
- Karrion Kross vs. Samoa Joe – 3.5
