A WWE star has said that they want to see CM Punk ‘with a chip on his shoulder’ following SummerSlam main event snub.
At WWE SummerSlam night one, CM Punk defended the Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes in the penultimate match of the show.
After it was expected that Punk and Rhodes would main event the first night of the show, WWE opted instead to close the night with Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar’s Hell In A Cell encounter.
The Miz Hopes To See ‘A Chip On The Sh0ulder’ Of CM Punk
Following SummerSlam, Punk cut a scathing promo on the SummerSlam post-show, where he went off on all his potential challengers in a segment that seemed as though Punk was letting off frustration over not being the main event.
Speaking to WrestleRant, The Miz spoke about Punk’s promo, noting that he hopes to see a version of Punk with a chip on his shoulder in WWE.
He said:
“Not only does he still have it, I was watching that going ‘man, you know what I want to see? I want to see that CM Punk with a chip on his shoulder.
“No (we haven’t seen it). You don’t remember CM Punk like I remember CM Punk. I was there, and that CM Punk was lethal.
“I remember where he was when he left, like right before, I remember the feeling, he was not happy at all. Now we see CM Punk in interviews wearing a suit, I’m like, it’s almost like (Corporate Punk). I want punk Punk.
“When I saw that promo (after SummerSlam), I was like ‘ooh I like this Punk’. I like a Punk that’s not the main event, that should be in the main event, that knows he deserves to be in the main event and deserves to be where he’s at, now he’s letting people know.”

The Miz Details Origins Of Talking Smack Promo
The Miz himself is no stranger to having a chip on his shoulder during WWE promo segments, as this month marks 10 years since his famous Talking Smack promo.
Miz also opened up on the promo during the interview, detailing the origins of the segment and noting that he and Bryan Danielson only spoke for ‘maybe a minute’ beforehand.
He sad:
“I was mad at the fact I got taken to SmackDown and they weren’t using me, as the Intercontinental Champion, and they were like ‘hey, you have a dark match today’, and I go ‘wait, I’m not on the show?’ And they’re like ‘no, you’re the warm-up match.’
“And I go ‘wait a second, what are we doing on the show?’ They’re like ‘we’re introducing two new titles’, what about this title? What about the title that has mattered to me since I was a child?’
“Then I went to Road Dogg and I was like ‘put me on Talking Smack’. He’s like ‘why do you wanna be on Talking Smack?’. It’s a brand new show. I was like ‘put me on Talking Smack. Daniel Bryan’s the General Manager, I’m going to take it out on him’.
“Then literally Daniel and I talked for maybe like a minute. Not even, like 30 seconds. Hey, we’re going to do this. We don’t know what the finish is, let’s just go off and see what happens, and that’s what happened.”
