Dolph Ziggler vs Shane McMahon At WrestleMania?

Shane McMahon vs Dolph Ziggler isn’t a match we thought we would see, but according to Brad Sheppard, Dave Meltzer, and YouTube channels Heel by Nature and Pro Wrestling Unlimited, that is the match we’re getting at WrestleMania 34.

As the host of Backstage in WWE, Brad Sheppard had this to say:

“It looks like plans have recently changed and now Shane McMahon’s match, it sounds like his opponent will be Dolph Ziggler. From what I’ve been told that’s what they’re looking to do. Shane has got to have his match and Dolph has never had a singles match at WrestleMania. It would be a good match, that’s fine, not what I’m dying to see but that will be something to watch for if they do go with that. We should start seeing that build soon.”

Shocked, baffled, and slightly annoyed? Join the club. Don’t get me wrong, Dolph Ziggler is a perfectly able talent who can carry Shane O’Mac to a reasonable outing. It just feels like another slight from WWE to us fans.

Not only have we sat patiently for the best part of six months and invested in the Shane vs Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn storyline, waiting for the WrestleMania payoff the feud needed, but the extra kick in the proverbial happy sack comes from the recent rumor that Owens and Zayn will be bumped down to the Andre battle royal when they deserve so much more than that. It feels as if Vince McMahon is punishing us because we got behind two stars that were never designed to get over.

The most important thing to remember right now is that this is just a rumor and anything can change in WWE until it reaches our screens. We shouldn’t take this report as gospel quite yet, and I for one will be hoping for a triple threat match instead of Dolph Ziggler being pushed into a position his treatment and no-frills contract do not warrant. There will be more on this story as it develops.
