Huge Dream Match Announced For AEW Dynamite March 22

Tony Khan has now officially announced the ‘dream match’ which is scheduled for next week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

During a tweet on Friday (March 17), Khan noted that he was preparing to announce a dream match for the March 22 edition of Dynamite, which AEW would profile on the upcoming episode of Dynamite.

Khan has now confirmed that the dream match will see a debuting El Hijo Del Vikingo face off against former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega.

Khan took to Twitter to share a graphic for the bout, writing:

In a dream match that was postponed in 2021, Kenny Omega will finally go one-on-one vs the amazing El Hijo del Vikingo LIVE on TBS this Wednesday!

Even if you don’t recognise Hijo Del Vikingo by name, you’ve probably seen a GIF of him on social media, performing some borderline-impossible maneuver.

Ranked #8 in the 2022 PWI 500 list last September, the AAA star has recently been making a name for himself in the US, wrestling on the independent scene for the likes of GCW and Warrior Wrestling.

Vikingo is the current AAA Mega Champion, winning the vacant gold in a five-way match at Triplemanía Regia II in December 2021.

The gold had notably been relinquished by Vikingo’s upcoming opponent Kenny Omega, who stepped away from the ring that November to have multiple surgeries.

As of writing, this bout isn’t being marketed as a title match, however it is possible that this one-on-one encounter could set up a future championship showdown.
