Former two-time WWE Champion Drew McIntyre has addressed the “uncomfortable” CM Punk and Seth Rollins WWE Raw promo.
On the March 25 edition of WWE Raw, CM Punk made his return to WWE programming and his hometown of Chicago.
After Punk called out Drew McIntyre, “The Scottish Warrior” got into a heated exchange with his rival that led to many controversial lines, including a reference to Vince McMahon after Drew called himself “The Chosen One.”
The segment concluded with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins coming out to join the fray and deciding that Punk will be on commentary for the title match at WrestleMania 40.
Appearing on Torg & Elliott, Drew McIntyre addressed what went down and into the segment from Monday Night Raw. After explaining that plans are a collaboration right up until showtime, McIntyre said:
“This week, a lot of stuff, if you watch that interview with myself, CM Punk, and Seth Rollins, I’m sure you could feel the tension,”
On when the line “Chosen One” line was mentioned and how fans could feel the tension between him and Punk, McIntyre explained:
“Basically, the whole thing, if it felt uncomfortable, it’s because there was an outline and it’s three guys going out there who may not like each other and may have personal feelings, but also are good at their job and we go out there and tear into each other verbally without it on a piece of paper because it’s stupid writing everything down to deliver it to a live audience.”
McIntyre got in the last word of the segment, but received a superkick and Stomp from Rollins in the process.
Drew McIntyre will challenge Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40 on April 7. For the full lineup for the show, click here.
