Eddie Kingston has “signed the contract” for his AEW return match after a challenge was laid out to him on the September 6 episode of Collision.
Former AEW Continental Champion Eddie Kingston has been on the shelf for 16 months after suffering a torn ACL, torn meniscus and fractured tibia during a No Ropes Last Man Standing match with Gabe Kidd at NJPW STRONG Resurgence in May 2024.
The severity of the injury has led to Kingston’s return timeline being uncertain throughout 2025, with “The Mad King” revealing in the build to AEW Forbidden Door on August 24 that he was “not cleared yet” despite recently making his return to in-ring training.
While Kingston’s name has not been brought up on AEW TV for a long time, that changed on Saturday’s episode of Collision in Philadelphia, when Big Bill called out his fellow New Yorker by name during a backstage segment.
Almost a week after the challenge Kingston has now issued his response, revealing via Threads that the “contract is signed” on his end for his return match against Big Bill, with only the date and location to be determined.
Kingston wrote:
So got the phone call and the money is right contract is signed on my end. So Big Bill you dumb goofy bastard just send location.
There’s no word yet on when Kingston vs. Big Bill will take place, but we will provide further updates when this gets announced.
Kingston’s last match in an All Elite Wrestling ring came at AEW Dynasty 2024, where he teamed with Adam Copeland and Mark Briscoe against the House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King and Buddy Matthews).
