EXCLUSIVE: AEW Star Predicts ‘New Personality’ For AEW Dynamite Soon AEW

With AEW Dynamite set to celebrate its 200th episode on this week’s show (August 2) an AEW star has perhaps shed some light on some  changes coming to the company’s flagship show in the near future.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with WrestleTalk, near 37-year veteran Jeff Jarrett declared the need for each of AEW’s flagship shows to carry its own distinct feel and personality, something Jarrett believes AEW’s newest addition, Collision, has successfully managed to do thus far.

While Collision seems to be carving out its own identity in AEW’s weekly schedule, Jarrett expects the more established Dynamite to also do the same, saying:

“Look, it’s always a challenge when you have, under the same banner, each show needs to have their own personality.

“I think Collision has come out of the gate with its own personality, but it is so early. It’s six shows old, so there’s gonna be a pacing that continues to work its way out.

“Dynamite has 199 episodes under it. When you look at the amount of – and I’m not discounting Rampage and that’s a one hour show on Fridays, but it’s taped on the same night most of the time as Dynamite, so the pacing, you have to take that into account – when you have two standalone shows, it’s obviously doubled our prime-time coverage, so I believe Dynamite is moving into an era that it will take on a new personality just because you’re, I don’t want to say taking half the roster because guys are working both, but you’re doubling your prime-time coverage.

“So when you have that, I think Dynamite’s gonna take on a new personality. I think Collision, the shiny new object in the room, is always gonna get a lot of eyeballs.”

The positivity surrounding Collision has been evident not only for its match quality but in allowing more of AEW’s stacked talent roster to receive more TV time to showcase their abilities.

Jarrett then gave his own perspective on how exactly he feels Collision has managed to differentiate itself from other AEW programming, and what it means for AEW’s trajectory, saying:

“I’ve been super impressed with the pacing. They’ve had a lot of wrestling, but the pacing of it. Because they’ve had their talk and their in-ring and the promos and all that, but I think the era of AEW that we just launched as it goes into Collision, is really taking the brand to a whole nother level.”

Continuing on AEW’s success, Jarrett discussed the frankly insane week for the company between All In on August 27 and All Out on September 3, describing the period as a “special time” for the wrestling business as a whole.

Jarrett said:

“Look at Wembley, it’s a milestone show, and seven days later we’re gonna be right back in Chicago doing the fifth anniversary of that event (All Out).

“So it’s a special time to be not just in AEW, but in the industry.”

The buzz surrounding AEW’s first trip outside of North America on August 27 has seen a staggering amount of tickets sold for Wembley Stadium thus far, as WrestleTix’s latest update sees the company having distributed 77,470 tickets.
