The fate of Sami Zayn’s charity “Sami for Syria” is clearer with the latest clarification on the new WWE social media policy.
It was previously reported that WWE has implemented a new policy to crack down on what WWE competitors can promote on their various platforms.
With stars reportedly to be fined for promoting unapproved brands, many have been concerned over the fate of Sami Zayn’s Sami for Syria charity.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Sami for Syria should be fine. Noting that the policy will most likely be on a case-by-case basis, Meltzer reported that Sami for Syria specifically will be allowed to be promoted.
Here is the full quote:
“WWE told me that it has to do with an agreement. It’s basically the same policy that they’ve had for other forums but now they’ve extended it to Twitter and Instagram. There was a story on even charitable stuff is not allowed, and essentially everything is on a case-by-case basis. But I asked specifically about Sami for Syria because that’s one of the charities I know most about, and they said that’s fine, he will be able to still promote that.
“Essentially you’re not allowed to do anything to make money off of social media because they believe they own your likeness while you’re under contract, so that would include any marketing of yourself through any means, social media or otherwise.”
