The first match for the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door event looks to have been set, or at the very least, a big tease has been put out.
AEW posted a clip to social media with Matt and Jeff Hardy promoting the event, during which Matt specifically mentioned that the Hardys have never held the IWGP Tag Team Championship.
The championship actually just changed hands at NJPW Wrestling Dontaku, with Bad Luck Fale and Chase Owens of Bullet Club winning the title in a three-way against former champions Great-O-Khan & Jeff Cobb, and Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI.
So, unless there’s another title change between now and June 26, it certainly seems like we could be looking at Fale and Owens defending against the Hardys at Forbidden Door.
