A former WWE name has defended the lack of surprises at WWE Royal Rumble.

Cody Rhodes and Rhea Ripley stood tall as the winners in the Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumble matches at the 2023 titular event.

Both bouts featured some surprises such as Nia Jax, Chelsea Green and Booker T all coming out to pop the audience in San Antonio. However, there was some disappointment online due to the fact The Rock’s name had been rumored beforehand.

Speaking on his podcast “Reffin Rant”, former WWE official Jimmy Korderas believes that the fans shouldn’t complain much about the lack of surprises. He said:

“I thought the Royal Rumble matches were entertaining in themselves … the story at the end of the main event between Roman and KO was amazing. But people were saying not enough surprises.”

“Look, if you were concentrating on surprises in the Royal Rumble matches, and you were disappointed by there not being a Rock or whoever it may be, that’s on you because they were never advertised.”

Besides the previously mentioned names, Edge, Logan Paul, Asuka, Piper Niven and NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez all made surprise appearances in the Rumble matches.
