At last weekend’s WWE Elimination Chamber event, the United States Championship was defended inside the structure for the first time.
While Austin Theory was able to retain his title, Montez Ford was arguably the breakout star of the match.
Ford was a human highlight reel, including a dive off the top of the Chamber onto the other five competitors in the match.
Ford was eliminated by a Curb Stomp from Rollins, with doctors checking on him for a potential injury.
The injury was an angle designed to keep the Chamber door open to allow Logan Paul to enter the match and attack Rollins, but Ford was still the talk of the fans.
Former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas spoke about Ford in his latest ‘Reffin Rant’, where he believes WWE missed an opportunity by not featuring Ford on Raw after his performance in the match.
He said:
“This guy is a star waiting to be made. He has all the tools, he checks all the boxes, but he didn’t get mentioned at all during ‘Raw.’ They didn’t really show anything involving him. No update on his injury, which played a major role in the match.
“I think that was a missed opportunity. They could have at least let the crowd in, and keep him fresh in their minds.”
The injury to Ford was not a legitimate injury, but it could be turned into an angle for the future.
