A WWE name appeared at IMPACT Emergence to perform a very important role in a major Championship match.
IMPACT Emergence pay-per-view hosted multiple exciting matches however fans noticed before Jordynne Grace took on Mia Yim for the Knockouts World Championship, there was a familiar face in the ring.
Longtime WWE referee Scott Armstrong was on hand what would turn out to be an intense and brutal affair between the titans of the Knockouts division.
Scott Armstrong had a long and storied career throughout professional wrestling, working for multiple promotions including TNA and WCW before making his way to WWE in 2006.
He was notably the referee during the ‘second Montreal screwjob’ as it was dubbed in 2009 after the Undertaker lost the World Heavyweight Championship to CM Punk at Breaking Point with a controversial call declared Punk the winner despite Undertaker never having actually tapped out.
After being furloughed related to COVID-19 cutbacks in April 2020, Armstrong would be officially released from WWE in January 2022 after 15 years with the company.
Jordynne Grace retained her Knockouts World Championship after defeating Mia Yim in a hard fought battle.
Elsewhere in the IMPACT Knockouts Division, VXT (Chelsea Green and Deonna Purrazzo) bested Taya Valkyrie and Rosemary to capture the Knockouts Tag Team Championships.
