Hilarious WWE Name Botch During AEW Collision Debut AEW

On tonight’s debut edition of AEW Collision there was a hilarious WWE name botch as a star was introduced by their ‘old’ moniker.

During the big entrance of Buddy Matthews ahead of his match against Andrade el Idolo, a small error led to an amusing moment.

With ring announcer Dasha Gonzalez inadvertedly saying “Buddy Murphy” instead of “Buddy Matthews,” he did not in fact have a name change.

With the graphic on screen still reading ‘Buddy Matthews’ and then both commentators going on to reference ‘Buddy Matthews’ in rapid succession after the slight error, it appears to have just been a genuine mistake.

It’s a mistake anyone could make too, so no harm done and a shoutout to Gonzalez for doing a great job as the Collision ring announcer on the debut show tonight.

But it wasn’t just Dasha working out the bugs on the debut broadcast, with Nigel McGuinness also referring to the AEW talent as “superstars,” something he of course picked up during his time in WWE.

With the clip posted by AEW on social media cleverly clipping around the mistake, fans not in attendance or watching closely live would be none the wiser in the end.

In the end, after a hard hitting and fun match, Andrade el Idolo captured the submission victory over Buddy Matthews after applying a Figure Eight in a nod to his real life wife, Charlotte Flair.

Elsewhere on tonight’s debut episode of AEW Collision, Miro returned taking on Tony Nese in a fast match full of hard hitting action from the Bulgarian star.
